I try to, when I remember when I have time! I want them to see there's interest in more Chinese novels getting licensed.

yes! They've started doing some of the Fei Tian Ye Xiang titles as audiobooks. I'm wondering they're having trouble getting audio rights to the MXTX titles.

I also wonder if that's what's going on, seeing as they're otherwise milking the MXTX licences for all they're worth. Audiobooks seem like a missed opportunity.

yeah. there are some weird things in the patterns of what 7S does (such as not publishing Faraway Wanderers) that strike me as "there's probably something bizarre and contract-y going on the background of this about which the public knows nothing.

they really are milking the MXTX licenses, sigh. I love TGCF especially but it really makes me sometimes want to scream "READ. OTHER. BOOKS." at my fellow danmei fans.

I don't know what they're going to do once they're done with the hardbacks & the manhuas. Hardback editions of the manhuas I guess?

tbh I'm so curious what's the deal with Faraway Wanderers - I've read a bunch of speculation, but I'm not sure if any of it is accurate.

I have absolutely no actual information and haven't seen that speculation, but my own speculation is that it's a right issue, possibly related to whatever was involved in priest's giving the rights for the adaptation, but also possibly not. As in - there's some sort of legal issue with priest selling the rights, or she doesn't have the rights to sell, or something along those lines.

If it's NOT that, my second guess would be she's asking more for the rights than 7S wants to pay, but tbh that seems less likely to me. If she is, though, good for her. She deserves the money and I'm sure 7S isn't paying *any* of these folks what their work is worth.

Whatever it is, I do hope we *someday* get Faraway Wanderers (and, even more so, Qiye, I loved Qiye)...but it'll be what it'll be, I guess.

What speculation have you heard?

I swear I'd read someplace that Priest doesn't like licensing her older works (although assuming some of the info on Goodreads is correct, there was a Vietnamese edition of Lord Seventh around 2014 and a Thai edition of Faraway Wanderers around 2021, so that might be completely off base).

Oh, interesting. I could believe that. tbh, having read Astrolabe Rebirth, I kinda wish Fei Tian Ye Xiang had been a little more reluctant to license his older stuff, lmao.
