In non-cnovel reading, I finished a JP BL light novel, Buying You on the Day You Were to Die recently, and really liked it!

I put 300 Years of Longing on hold, read 成何体统 (This is Ridiculous!), really enjoyed it! Two transmigrators into a book + a book transmigrator character, and touches on how transmigration in these kinda court politics setting can mess you up. Started it for the comedy, got something meatier than expected.

成何体统 is How Dare You, right? XD I was just thinking of continuing the donghua or starting the drama haha.

EDIT: To be clear I wasn't trying to correct, it's just that there are adaptations (ongoing donghua and the new cdrama) where the official titles are How Dare You 😂

I'm caught up to chapter 103 in Dragon Subjugation Incantation Highlight for spoilers!* I'm upset about Tian Jizi destroying Luo Qingci's regrown heartstrings, but at least the systems knows what's been lost (and is sad about it) and Ruan Li and Jiang Yuebai can tell something' wrong.*

I'm also poking away at The White Haired Witch.

No c-novels this week -- recently started a new job and needed comfort food, so have been rereading the Penric & Desdemona series.

I've been deep in Japanese light novel BL this week (The Other World's Books Depend on the Bean Counter) and my usual manga reading, tho I did reread all of the manhua Kiss the Abyss by Mu Huo Ran, still really like it.

That JP bl is such a nice, low stress read. Good for times like these...

seriously. I'd read another four volumes if I could, it's like sinking into a hot bath.

instead I'm now reading the 7th volume of Lout of Count's Family which, to be fair, I also love.

Finished The Beauty's Blade, it was a fun book - I liked the straightforward revenge plot and how the romance developed. In terms of one of the side plots, Highlight for spoilers!*I was delighted when Guo Ju was revealed to be a woman also, because initially I was surprised how relatively nice Fu Wanqing was being to someone the narrative originally presented as a guy. Also found amusing that Guo Ju had the singular Good Dad in the book.*

Afterwards I was in the mood for more Wuxia, so finally started Thousands Autumns! And I have already finished the first 3 volumes. Really enjoying it, I kind of regret passing on the Special Edition for volume 5 but too late now. Shen Qiao is great, and I really like how the historical elements are integrated into the story.

Currently reading Young Master Ying Pian Pian (公子应翩翩) by Zui You He Fang (醉又何妨), one of the better court intrigue/villain system danmei novels I've read recently. I really like it so far.

Don't think I've read novels with villain systems. How does it work?

The novel itself is about the MC realising that he's a cannon fodder character created as a stepping stone for the designated protagonist in a book.

The MC is given a choice by the system to be on the protagonist's side or become the antagonist. He chose the latter. The MC would now have to fulfil the role of the classic antagonist/villain. The more points he gets from completing missions, the closer he is to regaining his freedom and agency. It's an interesting take on the "fight against one's fate" theme.
