May I ask what you're askin' for? I'm always curious.
(I've been asking for Kiss the Abyss & I Want to Be a Big Baddie, both by the same author, for manhua, and also Global Examination; for books, I've been begging for The Fourteenth Year of Chenghua by Meng Xi Shi and for anything by priest.)
I always ask for Torikae Baya (manga) even though I think it might be better off in the hands of a different publisher. If I knew of other publishers who were soliciting suggestions I'd ask them! But on the whole I'm not that cued in to manga publishing spaces. It's a manga by the author of the Revolutionary Girl Utena manga, based on a Heian era novel, in which two half siblings who were raised as the "opposite" gender proceed to, for court intrigue reasons, trade places, therefore crossdressing as their assigned-at-birth genders. I haven't read the manga (because there's no fan translation) but I've read some reviews and it seems that the manga is more queer than the original novel, which was actually pretty queer to begin with (despite its disappointing ending). Anyway I keep asking seven seas for it because I would really like to read it.
As for cnovels, I've been asking for C Language Cultivation (by the author of Little Mushroom) because imo it's a great novel that suffers from a less than ideal (edited mtl) fan translation, but I understand that a "programmer trying to get funding for his AI startup" main character is probably a pretty hard sell these days. The other one I keep requesting is Evil As Humans, because it deserves a bigger fandom.
I can start asking for the manga too, then! It sounds interesting. I don't generally put anything in for manga, because while I read a lot of manga, I'm not looped enough into the scene to know "things I'd want to read that aren't already licensed." There's so much translated and on Libby that I never really need to go outside that, there's still hundreds I want to read and haven't.
and that makes so much sense re: the other two. I'd love more from Yi Shi Si Zhou, and since 7S picked up the Little Mushroom license about the death of Peach Flower, it doesn't seem impossible we'd get it, even with the AI awkwardness lol.
The AI is actually handled pretty well in the novel I thought! It was written shortly before the current wave of chat gpt, AI in everything, and the main character makes some comments about neural networks reproducing human biases etc (and then it's set in a near future sci-fi world where his AI isn't like that, of course).
