One month check-in!

So it's been a month since the comm opened. I appreciate all of you for your participation in this community! Just want to check-in with you on a few things:

1) I keep forgetting to post the weekly Q&A catch-all post for any other questions. Do you think this is a useful weekly post? There's already three a week right now (though I can always double it up with the discussion post I guess!)

2) Are there things you'd like to see more of?

I am trying to plan out the author spotlight/themed weeks, so look forward to a survey or a post soon (in a week-ish) for it recruiting for help!

Other than that though, are the content and interactions in this community what you had hoped for?

3) Feel free to bring up any other thing!

I'm enjoying it! Three posts a week is nice. But I don't want you to feel pressured or get burned out. And I feel like I've forgotten how to have a nice long wandering discussion, like we did in the olden days. I'm sure it will come back to me soon, though.

Hi, I just joined this community yesterday, but I was wondering if it would be possible to have a read-along discussion for a particular work. I'd like to delve more into Chinese novels, and I would feel more motivated if I was reading as part of a group. I remember one group I participated in long ago (long ago!) on Livejournal would post the chapter(s) to be read for the week, and everyone would comment on the post with the chapter. However, that was copyright-free material from Project Gutenberg, so here a link might be more appropriate.

Hi and welcome! Mm, a read along will be nice and I have been thinking of starting with something low pressure, like short stories but don't have the brain space to decide/organize yet. Otherwise, any one of us can always start an impromptu read along in the read in progress posts, or post to the comm! So I encourage you to also do an interest check if there's a book you'd like to do a read along with.

I just spotted a feature on a friend's blog - https://profiterole-reads.dreamwidth.org/100906.html - aimed at practicing Korean. I don't know how many people in cnovels are Chinese speakers and/or Chinese learners, but if there are some, it might be nice to do something in Chinese? Heck knows I can always always always use more reading and writing practice...

Hm. It's not really a language comm but I think there are enough people who are learners here that it's probably of interest.

I can toss it up on the comm as a main post to gauge interest (or if you want, you can do it too!)
