I finished priest's Guangze Jiushi: Jinyan Pian & Shanghua Pian (广泽旧事 锦阳篇 & 上华篇) a while ago. It was really good. I particularly like the way priest incorporated ancient poetry during key moments of the story.

I wrote a review of a sort for it on my DW blog here, along with three other danmei novels I read a while back. They are Married Thrice to a Salted Fish (三嫁咸鱼), Imperial Uncle (皇叔) and Zisui Zhi Chen (恣睢之臣). The spoilers are unmarked, so please proceed at your own discretion.

Enjoyed reading your write-ups! Always nice to see people talk about Imperial Uncle here because I've had it in my ereader for ages and could use the push to finally start it. ^^;

I wish I knew enough about poetry to appreciate the way they're deployed in media haha.

Thank you for reading my write-up! I really enjoyed Imperial Uncle.

I too wish I know more about poetry.

Thanks for sharing your reviews! I read and enjoyed Imperial Uncle recently, and Married Thrice to a Salted Fish a couple of years ago, and enjoyed them both.

Can't read kid discovered Pokémon TCG Pocket and must duel All. The. Time.

(It's slick and fun, but I miss the RPG features of the OG Pokémon TCG for GBC.)

The simplifications in mechanics made for this iteration work in my favor (fewer quirks to obsessively memorize) plus I'm better at strategic deck-building -- so, so far, it's been fun.

Watched (if you can call "barely understood a thing" watching) Justice in the Dark (Mo Du LA) eps 9 and 10. Mixed feelings about some changes they made:
Major novel spoilersIn the live action adaptation LWZ's mentor's daughter joins the investigation team as Fei Du | Pei Su's co-intern, which I find interesting because it integrates her more into the onscreen plot (which might work for a 30-episode show?). It's just that she immediately seems sus which I think removes some of the the build-up in the original novel.

I haven't watched the show, but I did read Mo Du the novel a while back.

Novel spoilersI feel like the mentor's daughter could have used a little more screen time in the novel. It would have made the emotional impact hit much harder. As it is, I can't say I feel much for her or her dilemma, but that's just me.

I think so - The main story is completely translated and I'm guessing the rest of the extras will be finished over the next couple weeks.

Almost done with Mr. Melancholy Wants to Live a Peaceful Life! Continue to really enjoy it and continue to be amused by the tokusatsu vibes at times. I probably would have finished the story this weekend, but then I discovered that the novel for SSS-Class Revival Hunter got licensed by Wuxiaworld, so I tangented to reading that instead lol (I am up to the murim arc, which is sort of still cnovel adjacent? though it is a knovel).

The translation for this novel is good! I do recommend it if you think the story sounds interesting. However, this is the first story I am reading on the wuxiaworld site, so not sure how their translations measure up in general other than there seems to be multiple translators.

I completely forgot to post, oops. I ended up rearranging my TBR a little and I read You're Too Op!/You Boys Play Games Very Well by Yi Xiu Luo. It was kinda a fluffy nothing, but I enjoyed it and it was a quick read. The Rosmei translation was passable, despite occasionally SPAG issues.
