Date: 2025-05-14 06:15 pm (UTC)ETA: Did finish! Man, that was a rushed denouement -- like a page of summary of what happened in the next couple years after the climax. Also, read the first chapter of This Is Ridiculous (I'll have to dig up the author name), in which a transmigrator ends up in a transmigration novel, scheming against not just the novel's transmigrator MC but another transmigrator at her own level, plus there may be more.

Date: 2025-05-15 01:46 am (UTC)I also found two family centered WIP stories on lofter, 放手 | Letting Go by 霄褕 and 重生后 | Second Life Begins by 精神堪忧人士. I am enjoying both authors' writing style and voices!
Letting Go is of the real/fake shaoye genre of family drama, but a variant of it where both sides are shaoyes xD One is a outgoing and extroverted ray of sunshine, the other is a car racing, alcohol drinking bad boy with a little gang of his own 2nd gen rich kid friends who's great at pretending to be a good kid... at least on the outside! Our MC is bipolar, is touch averse, has some mysterious past trauma and also keeps falling sick... sickliness rating only 1.1 but soooooo delicious.
In the meantime, my carnivorous mushroom reporter bb of Contaminant Masquerade Project grows ever closer to being discovered as the mushroom S grade Contaminant that he is, and I am HERE for it 👀 His ever hungry mushroom army is the cutest!!!!

Date: 2025-05-15 03:10 pm (UTC)Also am still sick, which means my cope for new books is still low, which is why I've ended up reading the last volume of The Disabled Tyrant's Beloved Pet Fish. The first quarter hasn't been THAT bad, but now the political situation and a major character thing has been resolved and ngl, I'm not anticipating getting much enjoyment out of the rest of it, as it looks to focus very domestic and on the kid stuff I hate. I really think I'd be dnfing if this wasn't the last volume but as it is, I can stick it out.
The final volume of Yuwu/Remnants of Filth by Meatbun also came out this week, which means I now have the whole book official translation, so that'll be high on my TBR.

Date: 2025-05-15 08:44 pm (UTC)It took me a while to get into it, but then I realized that for the first arc at least, the main character is like that particular type of video game player who prioritizes all the side quests until accidentally triggering a main quest, and then quietly goes back to completing side quests. [My friend comment on this after telling her this insight: "oh, so it is like the way you played Dragon Age right?"]
The ending arc seems like it will be rushed, but still really enjoying the novel.
