I'm reminded of Jade Warrior, a Finnish-Chinese produced wuxia movie that mixed in Kalevala mythology. Bit of a mess (see: wuxia movie) but the scene of courtship-by-combat, shifting from sparing to dancing, was amazingly beautiful.

Oh, I'd totally forgotten about that! It was a good movie, if a bit of a mess, like you said.
