New Seven Seas Licenses

Looks like no one has posted about this here yet, so I'll jump on it! Seven Seas announced ELEVEN new danmei licenses yesterday:

• After the Disabled God of War Became My Concubine (Canji Zhanshen Jia Wo Wei Qie Hou) by Liu Gou Hua
• Astrolabe Rebirth (Xing Pan Chongqi) by Fei Tian Ye Xiang, written under the pen name Arise Zhang
• Copper Coins (Tong Qian Kan Shi) by Mu Su Li
• Mistakenly Saving the Villain (Lun Jiu Cuo Fanpai de Xiachang) by Feng Yu Nie
• My Husband and I Sleep in a Coffin (Wo he Laogong Shui Guancai) by Wu Shui Bu Du
• There’s Something Wrong with the Chief (Du Zhu You Bing) by Yang Su
• Thrice Married to Salted Fish (San Jia Xianyu) by Bi Ka Bi
• The Villain’s White Halo (Fanpai Baihua Guanghuan) by Hao Da Yi Juan Wei Sheng Zhi
• The Unseen Immortal of Three Hundred Years (Bujian Shang Xian San Bai Nian) by Mu Su Li
• The White Cat’s Divine Scratching Post (Shenmu Nao Bujin) by Lv Ye Qian He
• The Wife Comes First (Qi Wei Shang) by Lv Ye Qian He

Definitely a few here I'm very excited about - the only one I've personally already read is Copper Coins - and it's looking like we'll have a pretty cool line-up going into the second half of 2025 (the earliest release date for any of the above is July 2025).

I've added all the new licenses and made a few other updates to the master list I maintain of titles licensed in English. That list is here. If you know of anything I've missed, please don't hesitate to let me know any time!

also, thanks for pointing me toward that post about Chaleuria. When I was looking at this carrd today - https://licenseddanmei.carrd.co/ - they mentioned that Chaleuria had shut down but there was no source and I didn't have time to track it down so I didn't make any changes. But now I know!

Kinda kicking myself for not grabbing those books when I could, sigh, but then, I prefer to get print if at all possible and they were e-book only afaik, so.

(the linked carrd is a good one, it's the only list as I've found that's nearly as exhaustive as my own, and it has more about rumored licenses than mine does. I don't add a title until I know for sure that someone has it, I won't add a "unknown title" place holder. not that it's wrong to do so, it's just a different approach.)

It's so irritating when ebooks go out of print/the license expires. At least with physical books it's sometimes possible to find secondhand copies.

That's two that I've read and loved (Copper Coins and Married Thrice to Salted Fish), a couple more that have been on my radar/to-read list, and even more that I hadn't heard of but sound good!

Just out of curiosity, which did you bounce off of?

As I mentioned, Copper Coins is the only one I read, and I enjoyed it though it's not a personal favorite. Married Thrice to Salted Fish and After the Disabled God of War Became My Concubine are both pretty high on my tbr, because both have been repeatedly recommended by people whose opinions I trust. Misvil was also high on my list. I've heard a little mixed about The Wife Comes First so it's the only one I wasn't particularly looking to read.

I bounced off Mistakenly Saving the Villain. I know a lot of people who love it and it had a lot of good stuff going on, I think it ultimately boiled down to I just don't like yanderes. So if that doesn't apply to you don't let the fact that I bounced off of it turn you away!

The others that had been on my radar and I'd be most likely to get are Unseen Immortal of Three Hundred Years and The Governor's Illness.

That makes sense! I suspected it was either Misvil or The Wife Is First, idk why but that was just my hunch.

I'll probably get all of them, unless I learn something about any given one that causes me to change my mind. So far the only 7S titles I haven't gotten are ones where I've learned things about the author that turned me off (Kinnporsche, which isn't danmei anyway, and You've Got Mail, both the authors sound like horrid people so I can easily skip).

But if they keep licensing at this rate I will definitely be hitting a point where I'm gonna have to get more selective. I'm only thinking I can *probably* manage this many just cause by the time these start releasing, most of the current titles will be done (I think probably all except 2ha? idk.) It'll also depend on how many Rosmei and Via Lactea titles and such that there are. Ugh. Too many books. Too little money.
