Free-For-All Friday
Time for free for all Friday, a day for random chit-chat!
Do you want to talk about the other novels you are reading or find a read-along partner? Practice your Chinese? Request for fics? Ask for beta readers? Just talk about your day?

1) I was going to rant about how hard scanlating is - what do you mean I have to write AND think about the shape of the text?). As usual I've gotten distracted and given up (though I really want to share this comic, it's very gender and atmospheric), but I'd like to express my deep admiration to anyone who does any kind of text-based translation, it's really not for everyone.
2) A radio version of Ya She εθ is trending on Maoer/Missevan right now! It starts out a bit differently from the donghua (the first case is the antique mirror case). The style is full-cast dialogue with narration, so closer to an audiobook, and presumably more faithful to the original world.
2) Wingspan Asian Expansion is out!!!!!!!!!!!! I still don't understand this game but I'm looking forward to seeing/hearing Asian birds.

I just played with the Asian expansion and it made me SO happy omg. I did not understand how impactful Asian representation in media was until I felt represented by birds π

And I hope you're enjoying An Ancient Love Song! I don't remember much of it now but I remember enjoying how its vibes felt like it was something created a decade or so ago (in a good way).

In terms of non-cnovels, I've started reading the sff novel Point of Hopes by Melissa Scott. I'm enjoying it so far (I'm a bit tempted to check out the completely different genre show that inspired the main characters once I finish it).
Also on a completely non-book related note, I've been seeing a bunch (or maybe the same one multiple times?) of hummingbirds at my feeder, which always brightens my day.

What are the different genres between the book, Points of Hopes, and the show?

The show is the UK (then contemporary) action/spy drama The Professionals from 1977. In contrast, the book is a fantasy-ish novel (think something like Swordspoint) set in the capital city of a country that feels like an AU Elizabethan England.
