Yeah I distinctly remember LotM being a widely recced novel in Anglo non-cnovel spaces (so, the general animanga + light novel crowd), I'm just allergic to reading multi-volume canons so I'm so happy to start with the donghua! Especially when at least two different manhua adaptations didn't seem to go anywhere haha

AHhhh thanks for the heads-up! I guess they timed both releases to come out at roughly the same time (especially with the Yen Press listing advertising it as having an "anime tie-in").

I tried checking if there's a digital release--it seems physical only, but appears to be the same translation from Webnovel.

Ah I love when authors rec other novels! I wonder if there's a discernible influence on their work.

Maybe they'll add an ebook version later. The Chinese team behind LOTM is dubbing it into more than a dozen languages so there will be an audience for the novel.

I got the pdf from the teahouse so you should be able to grab if you haven't already. (If not let me know)

If you do end up reading any of the plays I want hear your thoughts! They sounded interesting form a historical perspective, just not what I was in the mood for

You're welcome. I'll post a review of the book here once it's in my hands.

Funny that you mention that because there's a decent overlap between ORV and LoTM readers (they both have interesting worldbuilding and progression, apparently)

hmm... that's an interesting point. I just looked Lip and Sword, and there's about 200 pages of "story" in vol. 3, only the second half of it is extras (I was like, "wait if the third volume is entirely extras this might not be a problem...")

I think I will solve this by just. bringing all 3 volumes of Lip and Sword. I won't get to them all but on the off chance I somehow DO...
