I am a day from flying back to Malaysia and my corner of the house is a mess and I am stressing over what I might have forgotten... not much "proper" reading done!

I'm so excited about the cover reveal for volume 5 of QJJ! I was hoping but not expecting that Qi Zhuyin and Hua Xiangyi would get a cover (I vaguely heard that a cover featuring a side character in another series wasn't well received).

So I've done it again xD Picked up a short danmei story about an orca and a humpback whale to translate on impulse because it was sooooo cute, plus the author was very educational with their orca fun facts + notes chapter and support for animal rights.

Also it's a platonic love story! Even more my thing!

(Initially had another Emperor & Crown Prince story in mind from Lofter and even asked the author for permission, but it turns out that that it wasn't finished yet LOL gotta be patient... but \o/ more food for me!!!!!)

Anyway!

So this is a free webnovel on changpei from 2018. A short, easy read and quite charming.

I'm mostly done with the 'first pass' translation for the main story, but as that is just me with TTS and some light editing, there is much more rephrasing and editing before it's in a fit state to be seen. Right now I don't have the spoons to make a new post but I subbed a few bonus scenes (Luo Yiguo-related) from the Modu/Silent Reading audio drama and posted them here. Technically an old work that I just retrieved from Twitter then cross-posted on Youtube, but the video-editing/effects are new. XD

Otherwise I'm still neck-deep in Justice in the Dark and had a cool learning moment about an idiom (since the show is being aired in Japan and therefore hardsubbed in Japanese):

Chinese: 狗急跳牆 (a cornered dog will jump over the wall)

Japanese translation: 窮鼠猫を噛む (a cornered rat will bite the cat)

well, if it's any consolation, this time next month i will also be dying in the malaysian heat, and then hopping over to visit my brother's family in australia and dying in the australian winter.
